John Abercrombie & Ralph Towner - Five years later

Ralph Towner y John Abercrombie se unieron en el año 1976 para formar un dúo. Sus innumerables sesiones de grabación quedaron registradas en el disco “Sargasso Sea”, posteriormente publicado bajo el nombre de Abercrombie. “Five years later”, se realizó cinco años después (1981) para el sello ECM. En él, se identifica claramente  a ambos guitarristas, ya que Abercrombie toca mayormente la guitarra eléctrica y tiene un sonido más contundente, mientras que los solos de Towner suelen ser más introvertidos. Aparecen tres temas compuestos por  Towner, un par de temas originales de Abercrombie, y tres colaboraciones.
